How does Vegas compare to Atlantic City ?

New Topic

Vegas is HEAVEN, Atlantic City, just another place with some casinos

New Topic

There is no comparison. We went to AC in 1994 to go to the Miss America pageant (a local girl won Miss Louisiana). We had not been to LV at that time, but after going to LV in 2001, there is no comparison.

AC is basically a straight line of casinos on the boardwalk. So much more to do in LV.

Just my opinion.

Las Vegas wins No Contest I think you are going to get that same answer in the AC forums. I just go down to AC cause it%26#39;s close Iand I miss the Casinos.

But, AC does offer more ';sure thing'; gambling than Vegas.....

It is more of a sure thing whether you will be mugged.

It is more of a sure thing whether you will have seagulls sh%26amp;t on you (count on it).

It is more of a sure thing that you will find used condoms and needles (give me the porn slappers anytime).

It is more of a sure thing you will see more abandoned and cranky children.

It is more of a sure thing you will be accosted on the way to your room.....which will not be as nice as a room in Vegas.

AC is an upsale opium den for NY and NJ gamble-holics.

Vegas, no doubt. I%26#39;d rather make the much longer drive to the two CT casinos, than AC!!! In AC one time I couldn%26#39;t believe I had a guy trying to bum chips off me in the middle of a roulette game...and the dealer just laughed...WTF???

Cynda,

You%26#39;re already in Vegas--Atlantic City would be a total letdown.

While it%26#39;s not a bad getaway for those of us close enough to make the drive, I%26#39;d never suggest anyone take on the added expense of airfare to get there. You%26#39;ve got bigger and better casinos, a lot more upscale hotels (though there are one or two really nice ones in AC), more shows to see and things to do. As someone said, you%26#39;ve basically got the boardwalk with casinos planted along it, and a lot of chinzy shops along the way. If you leave the boardwalk, the area isn%26#39;t safe. True, you%26#39;ve got a beach in AC, but there are a lot better beaches elsewhere, imo.

Good salty water taffy in Atlantic City-- that%26#39;s the only ';better'; thing that I can think of.

No comparison.Vegas hands down.

While I%26#39;ll agree with everyone so far, Vegas is hands down better, in the glitziness, safety, cleaniness, etc aspects. I kind of love the grime of AC.

When I lived back east occasionally my friends and I would load up in someones car in the winter (when rates were low) and make the drive to AC from NYC, and stay in some suite for 100 some odd dollars, (some suites have that heart shaped or martini glass). There is something fantastically bizarro about that place in the dead of winter that makes the trip so much fun. Major kitch factor.

The Borgata opened up not too long ago there as well. It%26#39;s the high end casino/hotel there. That casino I think is pretty comparable to a decent one in vegas.

Showing my age, but I went to AC when I lived in NY.

This was when they had the Playboy club.

Took at bus trip for $25.00, and got $25.00 in coins to play.

Now this was probably around 1980.

I didn%26#39;t care for it then, but I am sure it changed.

No were the vibe you are going to get in Vegas. I could drive there (6 to 7 hours) but I have not desire. Instead I go to Vegas.

I also wondered how it compares today to Vegas.
