Total Rewards demotion from Platinum to Gold

I have just checked my Total Rewards account and see that this year I have been demote from a Platinum card to a Gold card. I assume that I will be able to use my old card in the slot machines etc but was wondering if it had happened to anyone else.

Total Rewards demotion from Platinum to Gold

Demotion probably happens to lots of folks as you have to earn the 4000 points every year to keep Platinum status. Your card should work in the slots but I would pick up a new gold card anyway.

I currently have a Diamond card which has a March %26#39;08 expiration date on it. That means I have to earn 10,000 points before it expires, if I want to keep that status. Chances are I might lose it this year and be demoted to Platinum. When we are in Vegas, I might have my husband play on one of my cards, if I see I am getting close to that goal and we are near the end of our trip. He has Diamond, too, but not as many tier points as I do at this time.

Camille

Totally worthless, in my humble opinion.

Here%26#39;s what you get for $20,000.00 coin in/out.

A free buffet..

And free room ';midweek'; .

Which, of course, excludes weekends.

Maybe some cheap seats at a cheap show.

0341

0341 - I have to disagree with you....the TR program with Harrahs has treated us very well for several years now...

Great seats for great shows and not just within Harrah%26#39;s properties...

Meals at any type of restaurant including 4 star joints...

Rooms any day of the week. I%26#39;ve booked up to 10 nights straight and never an issue.

BUT, the program isn%26#39;t for everyone %26amp; there are ways to work the system. If it were perfect, no one would play anywhere else. But for us, it works well.

gingerscot - Camille is right, if you didnt get the required point level prior to March 2007, you lost Platinum until you get to 4,000 base points again this year. good luck!

Points are earned from from January to December. They will give you the card as soon as you qualify but your actual Platinum year is from March to March. This is if you earn the full points and not Platinum in a Day.

I also disagree with 0341.

According to our Win/Loss Statement, my sister and I lost just under $1,300 between us during our 2 week stay at the Flamingo last year. When I phoned to book this year%26#39;s stay, I gave them my Total Rewards number and they knocked about $550 off the room rate. They even knocked a couple of hundred dollars of my mum%26#39;s room when I gave them her number and we%26#39;ve never used her card.

The other thing I liked about the Platinum card was being able to skip the queues at the buffets. I will miss that this year but then again I might try and bluff my way to the front with my old card.

Hi gingerscot!

Please don%26#39;t look at it as a ';demotion.'; I%26#39;ve had no trouble getting good offers from Total Rewards casinos and I%26#39;m Gold with a tier score of just under 1,000 (I play tables so it%26#39;s a LOT harder to rack up points). The type of card you have is sometimes misleading. They base your offers on your Average Daily Theoretical (ADT) gambling activity, not on the color of your card. It%26#39;s theoretically possible that a Platinum will have to pay a little for weekends at Caesars/Paris...and a Gold will get them for free because they have a higher ADT.

I don%26#39;t know any casinos that give away free weekend nights unless you are a high roller.

Total Rewards has taken care of me many times, and I am far from a high roller. I am totally fine with my comped weekday room, discount coupons for many different things and the level of service they provide. I play at Harrah%26#39;s properties in LV and at Cherokee, NC and for my level of playing I think they do me right.

I also must defend the Harrahs Group. I know some people feel like I%26#39;ve ';drank the koolaid'; but I disagree. I like to gamble and I like to casino hop. I can go onto Harrahs.com and am guaranteed to pull up comped rooms almost anytime I wish to stay in Vegas. I can also stay for free anytime at the local San Diego Harrahs. I also receive offers by mail weekly for free slot tournaments, rooms, and even cash and food credits. Hell, Harrahs Laughlin sent me an offer with a free charter flight. And I only have gambled 3 times this year! And hit a jackpot some I%26#39;m up for the year!

I used to have a platinum card but was also demoted to a gold card but I find I get almost the same comps from Harrahs and all their properties so it doesn%26#39;t make much difference to me. I do sometimes cheat if the line at the buffet is long and use the platinum line as I kept the card and they never say '; oh get to the back of the line, your card has expired';:. Harrah%26#39;s has been very good to us and we even have our visa card from Total Rewards so when I spend a dollar I get one credit. I use this visa for all purchases so I get at least 600 points every month whether I gamble or not.
