Hi all, I have been reading some of the latest reveiws of the Trop and it appears it is fast becoming the replacement from the previous king of shame: The New Frontier. For the worst hotel on the Las Vegas strip. It%26#39;s a shame too as the Trop once was a great place...I guess since they are going to remodel the place anyway, they just don%26#39;t care anymore.
Read some of the reviews. They are pretty hilarious. Especially the latest one in which the reviewer refers to the men by the pool as child molester types soaking there fat sweaty bodies and how the water pressure nearly gave her a concussion.
Hilarious-
The new ';worst hotel on the strip'; appears to be the Trop!Haaaa....thanks tomvegas!! That first one was hilarious!! Also the part about the plastic covering on the mattress had me LMAO!! =)
The new ';worst hotel on the strip'; appears to be the Trop! The bottom line is I guess is if you MUST stay there make sure you stay in the Paridise Island wing and as one reviewer states ';looks like a nursing home';. Visiting the Trop casino is on my to do list for September, can%26#39;t wait.
Yeah, staying in the Paradise tower is a must. The elevators for that tower are near the front door so you can make an easy escape if need be;)
We walked through the casino on our recent trip; how depressing! People loitering in the front, sitting on the floor, looking like they just lost their entire life savings and wanted to beg me for mine....not a good sign. The casino was so bad looking, we did a quick circle through it and got the heck out. It was depressing and low class without having the kitchiness of say, Slots A Fun. I can%26#39;t imagine the hotel is any better.
There is no such thing as the ';Paradise Island Wing.'; There is the Island Tower, on the south end, and the Paradise Tower, on the west side by the Strip. Then there are the Garden Wings, which are the 4-story motel-style buildings. They are part of the original hotel, the Island is middle-aged and the Paradise is the newest in relative terms. I don%26#39;t care about reviews, I will still stay at MGM and go gamble there as I seem to do the best there of anywhere in town.
Ever since Aztar sold it there have been staff cutbacks, so it%26#39;s obvious that they%26#39;re cutting back in other areas as well. It is too bad. I hope I%26#39;m not disappointed in a couple of months when I return.
haha... go to candid traveler photos and look at picture 11, wonder what they were planning on doing with that hair dryer?? haha
The death throes of the old guard are never pretty. The Dunes, Sands, Hacienda etc. all were a far cry from their glory days. Sheraton even put millions into the D.I. before it went. The Trop%26#39;s days are really numbered.
when we were in vegas at the end of april, we were walking over to hooters, and stopped into the Trop on teh way there. were hoping to find a short-cut out through the back of the hotel to the back of hooters. we were surprised that we had NO TROUBLES walking right through the pool area, and into the room towers. i think they were supposed to be locked, but the door was left slightly ajar, so we had no problem at all getting into the hotel area. granted, it%26#39;s not the wynn, but i guess we were expecting a little visible security *L*
I have personal knowledge that Columbia Sussex, who bought Aztar- owner of Tropicana, has scheduled a complete overhaul of the property. It should be gorgeous and rival The Mirage. They have even renamed their Laughlin property, the Ramada Express. Its new name is The Tropicana. I think it promises to have a much better future.
Ahh, that%26#39;s a funny post! My parents stayed there about 8 years ago and have never returned to Vegas. Maybe that explains why.
A location like that it sounds like they are LONG overdue for a complete overhaul. Glad they are finallly doing it!
