What's up with GN bad reviews

Wife and I staying at GN Aug.8 to 15th. Have been reading alot of negative reports on hospitality. Any truth to these rumors or is it just very finnecky travelers expecting their butts to be wiped for the $$$ they spend?

You hit the nail on the head.

I want my a$$ wiped for $69.00 a night.....lol. Do i have to request that at the $15 check-in or is it a given?

pigbob, they only way you can really find out is by staying there yourself. The perceptions of other travelers are very subjective and one can not factor in their attitude, win/loss status, and agendas that they might have. So, go stay there, live and learn-it%26#39;s all part of becoming a seasoned traveler.

I looked at GN for a room for a Saturday night in mid September and they wanted 300 a night for a parlor room! This was directly from GN web site. Did the GN turn into a 5 star joint since February??? nothing else DT was any where near that price. If I was paying that I%26#39;d not only expect excellent service but I%26#39;d expect to take that big gold nugget home with me.

I am in the minority...our stay was one of the best we%26#39;ve ever had in Vegas and have stayed at many hotels through the years. Maybe we were lucky, I don%26#39;t know, but we had great service and quick check-in. We were comped a buffet for supper, and we lost but not alot while we were there. We don%26#39;t use the pools, but we did notice quite a few children (but it is summer) which would be the only downside I saw. If you have time when you return, post a trip report since I am curious to know what you think.

No, but it has been a 4 Star/4 Diamond Property for the past 30 years.

It is telling that many long time and regular visitors to the GN are complaing - a group of once huge fans. This is a true sign of problems - when it is not just a sprinkling of complaints but rather comes from those who have been guests for years and repeat visits.

I was there in June and had exactly ZERO problems. The front desk folks were not quite as outgoing and friendly as in the past, but no big deal. Rooms are the same as always, comfortable and quiet.

The ';big'; changes are the pool area and the redesigned Casino, which I hate, but that has nothing to do with the hotel room I am paying for. Still ';4 Star'; to me and at $59 a good deal.

Hey Pigbob My wife and I are going to be there the same weekat atime share resort . We are flying out of Cleveland on Continental.

pigbob....click on my name and go to my reviews...I wrote a good one in May. I%26#39;ve been going to the Golden Nugget for 11 years now, and haven%26#39;t ever had any major issues.
