A group wants to go to vegas for a friends 50th the first weekend in October. Rates seem really high right now and no specials. Is that the norm for that time of year or are we just too early?
when to book for october
Rates are high in Oct.. its a big convention month.. book now and if the rates lower you can get the better price by calling the hotel.(AS long as you book direct).
when to book for october
Not too early at all, possibly too late. There are numerous big conventions in town in October, so it is possible that the specials were never there to begin with. High advance demand=no specials. I am going the only ';slow'; week, which is the week of the 21st. Even then, it%26#39;s not the whole week. Good luck. You may want to consider some off-Strip locales, like Orleans or South Point.
I would have booked this two months ago. I am anal that way though. i usually book 3-4 months out. Prices are just cheaper most of the time. Just check the prices everyday, they can go down and then back up in a few hours.
Book directly with the hotel (via their web site is fine). That way, if you find a better deal, most hotels will honor it. This happened to me today!!! I saved almost $100 on a deal I found on southwest.com.for our trip in October. The Gold Coast honored the change. Yeah!!!!!!

mrsg, thanks for the info. I am booked at Gold Coast for October too.
My rate was $120 for 2 nights. (mid-week specials with free buffets) I just called and got the $45 per night rate. Not a million dollars, but I love looking for deals.
Last year I booked Bally%26#39;s for around $100 per night and kept checking their site, and I think I called 3 times when I saw a lower rate. I ended up paying $59.00 per night.
