Describe your ideal Downtown evening -to help me plan mine!!

I%26#39;ve only been downtown once, and pretty briefly. Didn%26#39;t find it overly exciting, but going back Labor Day weekend with two friends and thought we should give it a try. I%26#39;d love to hear some expert opinions on what is worth checking out - good bars/lounges, fun atmosphere for dinner, gambling, and whatever! Thanks :)

I%26#39;ve said it before and will say it again...go get a slushy at La Bayou and sit at the penny machines at the entrance. You can watch the canopy show, drink, and gamble cheap. That%26#39;s what I do to waste time while Mr. Ducky is playing cards at one of the downtown casinos.

Mermaids is across the way and also has the drinks plus fried twinkies! LOL

where%26#39;s chitowngambler when you need him?

I%26#39;m with Ducky!! Visit La Bayou for a slushy drink....or a football full of slushy drink or beer!! Wander the whole area. Drop in to the Golden Nugget to go check out the new shark tank pool. If you go to Mermaids for the twinkies you can play one of our favorite games of ';Is that a he or a she'; with the lovley Mermaids who stand out front of the building......I love playing slots at the Fremont and usually have good luck there!

The Vue bar at Fitzgeralds is a cool place to hang out for a bit, drink and do some people watching. It%26#39;s upstairs and has a balcony that hangs out into the canopy where you can see the show or people watch.

They usually have live band under the canopy at night. Some are pretty good, some not.

Binions has a nightclub now in their top floor steakhouse restaurant. I haven%26#39;t been there yet, but a regular on this forum was there last week and is holding out his report I guess.

The list goes on. What are you guys into?

Our ideal evening is just slipping in and out of all the casinos, and when we%26#39;re ready for a fun atmosphere and drinking, we head to Mermaids.

The cocktail waitresses keep you double fisted at all times and it%26#39;s a really fun party atmosphere!

We usually forget to eat when we%26#39;re in Vegas, so I can%26#39;t help you much there.

Don%26#39;t forget to visit the Jerky Store!

I recommend the golden gate for shrimp cocktail and great dealers! We are also going to try out main street station this time around and go to their 777 brewery.

Thanks; we%26#39;re three single women in our mid/late 30%26#39;s who all live in larger cities. We like good food and tend to gravitate to more upscale scenarios at night (don%26#39;t get me wrong, O%26#39;Sheas is one of my fav spots during the day!!). A nice cocktail/bite to eat somewhere with the old Vegas feel could be fun :) I like the idea of lower table minimums too!

You%26#39;ll like the Vue bar then. You might try Bay City Diner in the Golden Gate (same place as the shrimp) for a good cheap meal in a nicely decorated ';old school'; experience.

Thanks, Dr. V, I figured I%26#39;d let you do the honors this time.

Downtown doesn%26#39;t offer a lot in terms of nightclubs, but it sure is a fun place to just hang out.
