I%26#39;m planning on having two blowout meals in Vegas.
My intention was to visit restaurants of well known French chefs.
Are there any US alternatives? I%26#39;m staying at the Wynn and Venetian.
Regards,
Darren.
Fed up with Guy and JoelAndre%26#39;s Downtown or Monte Carlo are the best Frenchie joints in town.
Fed up with Guy and JoelWe ate at the Andre%26#39;s at MC and had an excellent meal.
Julian Serrano isn%26#39;t French, but he%26#39;s in the kitchen and Picasso at the Bellagio is excellent. Ditto Alex Stratta at Wynn, but his restaurant is considered more ';continental'; than purely French.
I second homeboy%26#39;s vote, but Andre%26#39;s and Andre%26#39;s at Monte Carlo (and Alize at Palms) don%26#39;t count as two French chefs. And Andre Rochat is famous only in Vegas.
As for others, there%26#39;s Daniel Boulud Brasserie at Wynn and MIX at manadalay Bay, but Boulud and Alain Ducasse probably visit once a year. Hubert Keller makes it to Fleur de Lys at MB a little more often since his commute is shorter. All three have real Frenchie exec chefs: Philippe Rispoli (DB) Bruno Davaillon (MIX) and Laurent Pillard (FdL).
I don%26#39;t know much about Pinot Brasserie, an offshoot of Joaquim Splichal%26#39;s LA operations. He is a little more California-influenced these days, but his reputation in the States is sterling. His exec chef is also French.
That pretty much covers it for well-known French chefs.
Pinot Brasserie at the Venetian is an excellent alternative, Andres downtown is also decent, don%26#39;t know if I would say the best but a good choice.
Bouchon at the Venetian. Owned by Thomas Keller, one of the greatest chef%26#39;s on the planet, according to his peers.
Unfortunatley, I haven%26#39;t been to any nice restauants in Vegas. In a show about Vegas with famous chef Anthony Bourdain, he liked the food at Bouchon a lot.... hope this helps.
As others have noted, the food at Bouchon is great; I never fail to dine there when in Vegas. But Thomas Keller is American, not French.
Are you simply looking for great ';French'; food or great food cooked by famous chefs form France? By referring to Guy and Joel, I assume the latter...
The most luxurious restaurant from Wynn would be Alex. Try their tasting menu if you decide to go. Everything from amuses bouche to mignardise were wonderful.
Did you not like L%26#39;Atelier de Joel Robuchon near Leicester Square? I thought it was the nicer than one in Paris and ended up going there for lunch two days in a row. Those fantastic meals were one of the best part of the trip.
Try Delmonico and Aqua Knox in the Venetian. Delmonico has the best steaks i have ever had at a restaurant. Great service too. Beats every steak house and restaurant I have ever been to in the US. Only steaks that are better are the grass fed prime dry aged organic humanely raised ones I get from neighbor down the road. We age them about 30days. My friend uses ultrasound to grade his steers for marbling etc. Talking to the waiter at Delmonicos they get their grass fed beef from Colorado.
Also try the truck that pulls up outside the construction at the Venetian at about noon some of best Mexican food I have ever had and at a reasonable price. Fresh home made tacos, tamales and burros. a concierge at the venetian told me about this. Its one of her cravings during her pregnancy!
To each his own I have never been that impressed with Mr Keller and his French Laundry and Per Se.
Why French chefs try good old American cuisine while in the USA?
You will find better French cooking in the UK. And Italian beats French anyday! The UK and EU dont have any restaurnats that serve a steak comaprable to Delmonicos. You used to be able to get a decent steak in and around FLorence but no more because of EU laws and regs.
