i%26#39;ve noticed many posters using the term ';direct'; when Ithink they mean ';non-stop';
Know that in the airline industry - ALL AIRLINES, EVERYWHERE that direct does NOT mean non-stop.
non-stop = just that
direct = makes at least 1 stop, keeps same flight #, almost always stays on the same plane, rarely chnage planes (it does happen when a flight goes from a puddle jumper to a jet - very rare)
connecting = makes a stop AND changes planes and flight numbers.
do not confuse direct and non-stop - always ask the agent or read the website carefully
non-stop v direct v connecting flights
Does it really matter?
non-stop v direct v connecting flights
Direct or non-stop -- personal ';chocie';.
why yes, hannah ir does. many people book a direct flight, thinking that means non-stop, and are surprised once they land someplace other than their final destination.
it matters a LOT.
exactly midget - as long as the pax knows what the chocies are. some may prefer to fly direct as opposed to non-stop.

Here in the UK airlines do use the term direct for just that, not stopping anywhere on route. I can see why it would also be called non stop though. To me they are saying the same thing. What doesn%26#39;t make sense is for an airline to say a flight is direct and then expect you to get off the flight and back on again???
Maybe like a few other phrases a little is lost in transalation i.e. fanny packs and soccer??? lol
Even now @ 31 years of age fanny packs still make me smile!

Seeing that this is not the airline forum, it really doesn%26#39;t matter. We are hear to talk about VEGAS.
I think people say direct for sake of conversation. Take into account as well people from UK who have different terms than Americans. Brits always ';hire'; cars on vacation. If I hired a car I would expect that to mean I would have a driver to take me places. To Brits it means to rent a car.
* Apologes for mi terible typing and lac of a spel cheque on ere

I never want to get on a non-stop flight. I want it to stop in Las Vegas. Sorry, people you were just getting too serious with this. Semantics is an interesting study. ;-) Smile, it%26#39;s good for you.

Bridgefan1. actually I appreciate your info. thanks. I am ticked that I have been switched from a NON STOP flight to a DIRECT flight but now I can say I know the difference.
